Music for a Summer Afternoon: Beethoven 250th Birthday Celebration Concert
28th June 2020, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
£7
Newmarket Chamber Orchestra are delighted to perform a concert in the wonderful acoustics of St Andrews Church Soham, to feature music by Beethoven to celebrate his 250th Birthday.
The concert opens with the dramatic, turbulent Coriolan Overture and concludes with Beethoven’s radical First Symphony, something different to the norm of Haydn and Mozart symphonies before him. The concert also includes music by Purcell (The Fairy Queen), Vaughan Williams (Fantasia on Greensleeves) and a performance of a work by Venetian renaissance composer, Giovanni Gabrieli where the orchestra will perform in the round. Directed by Chris Parsons.
Doors open 3:30pm. 4pm start until 6pm with half an hour interval with refreshments.
£7 adults. Children and students free entry.
Tickets from: Soham Books, 38 High Street, Soham, or email: newmarketchamberorchestra@gmail.com, or available on the door.
